Bert slept 4 hours in a row last night and only got up to potty once. We got up the second time he woke me. He isn't thrilled with the temperature change either. Didn't want to go outside this morning. He broke one of his squeaker balls last night. It's funny, he can't figure out why it won't squeak. He just sits there chomping down on it as hard as he can and it doesn't make any noise. Then he shakes it back and forth as fast as he can, again, silence. Poor guy. I took pity on him and pulled a new one out of the pack for him. Now I know why they sell them in 3 packs.
Today has been really hard. Lots of accidents inside. I reviewed potty training info online again. I am trying the leash only method now. When I take him outside to potty it is on his leash. I use a gentle leader head halter. Our first attempt was nothing but a 15 min. hissy fit on Bertie's side. I hope I can get it on him again. When I finally gave up, I put him straight in his crate, no treat. The treat method isn't very effective with Bert, he could care less about getting a treat and half the time just leaves it in his bowl. The cats, however, love the treat method. I am getting scared he is gonna be one of those dogs who never learn to potty train. He is currently in such a snit, he didn't even whine when I crated him.
I gave up on the leash. It was just a rodeo of him having panic fits. Will just keep carrying him to the designated area and then following him to where he wants to go. Neither one of us wants to go outside tonight, it is bitterly cold and windy out.

burr. but that's the whole states these days. 65 yesterday...we'll be lucky to get to 40 tomorrow. stupid rain and cold front.
on the plus side, our dafodils have started to bloom and the tulips should be here before easter! yay!!
